Sure, it wasn’t that exciting, but it’s often exaggerated about how bad it is. It was just cut a bit short and ended sort of unexpectedly.10: ANH- Obi-Wan vs Darth Vader, the Death StarThis duel was, of course, the first duel recorded in the saga, so I think we should cut it a bit of slack.
This is definitely one of my favourite duels.There’s not much to say about this duel: it was a really cool and exciting duel, although it didn’t last very long. This duel features lots of incredible usage of the Force, and the lightsaber blows themselves are engaging. After Kit is killed, (R.I.P.), the duel is taken through the Chancellor’s halls, with Mace Windu’s unique fighting style keeping the fight interesting.As the first time we see the legendary Grand Master in battle, we were definitely not disappointed.
As well as the first time we saw a lightsaber be thrown, it featured Luke’s rejection of the Dark Side, and, of course, the elegant duelling itself.4: ROTS- Yoda vs Darth Sidious, CoruscantAt the finale of ROTS, we saw the greatest Jedi in the saga clash against the greatest Sith in the saga, and I for one was not disappointed. The choreography was one of the best in the OT, with the duel taking them through Palpatine’s Throne Room and ending with Vader’s defeat. It was such an elegant display, and I couldn’t have ranked it any lower.5: ROTJ: Luke vs Darth Vader, Death Star IIOne of the most emotional duels of the saga, Luke vs Vader was a constantly entertaining and enjoyable duel. When Anakin got the second lightsaber, that was when the duel fully kicked off. Even after they both lost their sabers, it was entertaining.6: AOTC- Obi-Wan and Anakin vs Dooku, GeonosisThis was one of the most pleasing-to-watch duels of the saga, Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting their hardest, and Dooku countering their attacks constantly.
It’s an amazing duel of graceful lightsaber blows, and the use of Darth Maul’s double-bladed lightsaber makes it three time better. It’s also great character development for Luke.2: TPM: Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan vs Darth Maul, NabooAgain, I don’t think I need to say anything here, but I will. Luke uses his surroundings to his advantage, but Vader overpowers him, slices his hand off, and says the most iconic Star Wars quote. Not only is the duelling fantastic, but we also see an incredible display of Force powers.Easily the most iconic duel in all the movies, it features incredible duelling, probably the best in the OT, and a great setting in Bespin.
After that, the music isn’t exciting. The music at beginning was pretty good though, when Kylo Darth-Mauled Snoke. You forgot about some duels though, like Luke vs Kylo in The Last Jedi, but I agree with most of your picks.That was no duel! They didn’t touch sabers and it was really just stupid.I didn’t like how it was choreographed. Couldn’t be more perfect.Nice list.
And we got Finn screaming “REEEEYYYY!!!” for the hundredth time.The force days thing was pretty cool, but I don’t like this duel. Nothing really interesting happened. Rey vs Kylo on the planet with the Death Star remains (Don’t know the name of it).This duel was very duel and boring. Then they destroyed Anakin’s lightsaber for no reason.16. They literally swapped roles.
The first time I saw this duel, I thought Rey killed him. I don’t understand how Kylo survived the strike to his face. So duel makes sense to be me. I think she saw his training because she knew he was afraid he won’t be the next Vader. She learned how to use the force when Kylo looked in her mind.
It just was slow pace and it doesn’t compare to the other duels in the saga.Not a bad duel. This was the first duel in Star Wars history, I think we need to give it some more respect. I’m giving it extra credit than it deserves.
That flip Dooku performs sometimes makes me laugh for some reason. Anakin and Obi-Wan vs Dooku on the Invisible HandGood duel. What a satisfying duel.10. The duel ended quick, but this was the first time someone’s been beheaded in Star Wars.
Mace and the other Jedi’s vs PalpatineGreat duel. We also got the most popular Star Wars meme: “Hello there.”.8. It’s been a while since I played it, but the game is really good.This duel was pretty cool, especially with Grievous wielding four lightsabers for the first time in Star Wars. He says things like: “Impressive, Anakin.” and “Excellent combat form, Anakin!” from what I remember. He got a front row seat.Fun fact: In the ROTS tie-in game, Palpatine actually comments you when you hurt Dooku.
We saw the purple lightsaber fight in a duel for the first time.7. We saw Palps fight the first time in Star Wars. Palpatine just strikes too quick for Kit to deflect. My biggest problem is how did Palpatine kill two Jedi masters in a second? Kit held up good. It makes this duel kinda funny.
After that, Yoda taunts Palps by his other name, Sidious. We also saw Yoda absorbing Count’s energy and deflecting it back at him.This fight made Yoda badass again! First, we see Yoda flick off Palpatine’s guards, like nothing. This fight made Yoda became a badass when he ignited his saber, leaped to Dooku, making the famous LEGO Yoda death sound, and flipping all around. This fight is very exciting and it makes you want to reenact the fight with your friends.This was an epic duel. We see a curved lightsaber hilt wielded by Christopher Lee (R.I.P.).
